FOOD COMBINING
First of all, this is my first attempt at making a clear chart to get everyone introduced to food combining so feel free to tell me if it makes sense or ask me questions.
So, the basic reason why it’s a good idea to pay attention to food combining is your stomach’s digestive enzymes. Your stomach has to produce different acids in order to break down different foods. When you mix them, your body has to slow down and work hard to decode what’s happening with all the different foods in your stomach, and digest it. Instead of taking 20-30 minutes to completely digest fruit, 2 hrs to digest carbs or 3 hrs to digest protein your body takes about 8 hours to fully digest a “bad combo” meal. If every meal is a bad combo, you end up just piling food on top of old food and so on, never letting your body perform the functions it would naturally if it wasn’t working to digest all the time, like detoxing and using the food to give you mental clarity and energy etc.
Why this matters for you is because paying attention to this helps with weight loss and attaining long lasting energy (no more food comas!). The first thing you can easily change is to make sure you eat your fruit on a completely empty stomach, on its own (or with leafy greens) and wait 20-30 minutes before eating anything else. Fruit is so easily digestible that when you mix it with other foods it starts spoiling the other food that is in your stomach with it as soon as it is digested.
All the recipes i post are properly combined so you never have to worry about checking the chart, but you can print it out and use it as a cheat sheet until you get the hang of it. I promise it’s a lot easier than you think :) and i will keep posting on this matter to give everyone yummy meal ideas to ease the transition. High-res

About Me and Brave Lil Juicer

I started my blog because I’ve loved learning about the benefits of proper nutrition, and haven’t been able to stop talking about how delicious it can be! But more specifically, because I have been a full time student with little free time and have found ways to eat right with minimal effort, and want to help others do the same. I have gotten my nutrition training from Integrative Institute of Nutrition, as well as brilliant CN, Natalia Rose (detoxtheworld.com). While I am well informed on many different dietary theories, and honor each individual’s lifestyle and necessities, I also know that as humans, we were meant to thrive with natural foods, in natural environments, under natural circumstances, and that the way we get back to our natural vibrant state is through cellular cleansing. My intention is to make health and happiness accessible to anyone that is open to it.

It is not about dieting or loosing weight, but at the most basic level it’s bout getting back to eating natural food that our bodies can recognize as such and use it to heal and nourish its every cell. Most “food” that is commercially available today for “safe” consumption is far from being nutritious or safe, and is responsible for most common serious conditions such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, chronic illness… Unfortunately the list goes on. The good news is that there are simple ways to improve your state of being, all the way down to your gut reactions, and have them be delicious!

Most people instinctually know and want to eat better but get too overwhelmed. My hope is that you will use this health blog in any way you see fit; whether it is just finding something healthy and yummy to make once in a while or using it as a kick-starter guide to a new long-term way of treating your body that will improve every aspect of your being. It is important to remember that your body is a whole and functions as such.. if you would like to be less moody, or think more clearly, nutrition can directly improve that!

I have combined health tips and recipes in corresponding sections so that you can see how each tip can easily be implemented. I’m looking forward to helping everyone maximize their potential for vibrant energy and health. The only way to truly understand the importance, is by trying it out yourself, and noticing the difference!
